Muladhara-Root Chakra

It is the nourishment from the earth that feeds our food source and grows our bodies and bones. We literally are what we eat, and that is of the earth. The root chakra card puts us in touch with our physicality. Our bodies are nourished directly from our connection to the earth. When we see the universe and the earth as our providers, we feel safe, supported, and connected to our beautiful planet. Remember to give back as much as you take and nurture Gaia, our Great Mother.
The root chakra energy is depicted here as a boy, still and centered in his physicality, kept safe by the sleeping wolf, who has no need for vigilance or alarm, as he sits on the four-petalled lotus flower representing the four directions: North, South, East, and West. The boy sits under the abundant cherry tree, whose roots are anchored into the earth, reminding you to do the same. Invest in building and connecting to your earthly roots, as they offer a strong platform from which to springboard and create. Ganesha is the elephant-headed deity, son of Shiva and Parvati, worshipped in Hindu tradition, and indeed across the world, sitting behind the boy. Ganesha is the remover of obstacles and the God of new beginnings. He is a powerhouse to call upon when we feel blocked or need help to find our way.
Action: Walk upon the earth to help ground and connect. The gentle and wise elephant, representing power and strength, and the focused, grounded snake are the root chakra spirit animals to aid our connection to the earthly plane. Imagine being these animals to help you connect with these qualities. When the root chakra is clear we feel solid, firmly connected to ourselves, safe, and nourished. We can acknowledge all that we already have. Go ahead and align with the beliefs on the card. Use your body as the gift to harness your greatness.
Points of Reflection
Do you have a good relationship with your body? Do you pay attention to how you feel from an emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual perspective and give yourself what you need?
How connected would you consider yourself to be to the outdoors? To nature- the plant, animal, mineral, or crystal kingdom? Would you like to develop this relationship?
Is there more that you can personally do to support your earthly vessel, or indeed the earth itself?
How much time do you give yourself each day to slow down and access your being state? Could you honor yourself and your needs, wants, and desires more? If so, what would this look like?
Do you feel stable, safe, untethered by life? Or could you benefit from gathering or fuelling your own energy and resources?
When the root chakra is open and energized, you will feel present, here, and ready to engage with life. It is this rooted connection that becomes the springboard for manifesting a wholesome, meaningful life. Learn to trust in yourself and life’s experiences now. Everything is perceived through a lens-it is just experience; no judgments are needed.
