The history of the Tarot possibly goes back to Egypt. Since many divination tools were banned or destroyed from 70 AD onwards, history does not record these tools. Between 1420 and 1440, Tarot emerged in the Italian courts and spread throughout the lands, often used as playing cards. Today there are many forms of Tarot used for divination.
