Secrets
A Relentless Push to Freedom
What are you hiding from yourself or the world? Secrets eat away at your energy and limit full access to your soul’s wisdom. We all have desires that we make secret or shameful du to external influences from culture, family or peer groups. But when we push our needs, wants or instincts down, they find ways to move through our resistance and can surface in unpredictable ways. Repressed truth often creates denial, deception or defiance. You may judge the very thing you are trying to conceal. There are instances where secrets or lies can help. However, in most cases, it is best to find a way to reconcile inner conflict before it hurts your self-esteem. Your soul will never judge you. Whether your experiences are good or bad, you still grow and expand with the world and the Universe. Past experiences created this present moment and have given you a choice and opportunities for growth and self-awareness. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Bring your hidden drives into the light, and they will teach you who you are.
Shadow Mastery Class: Heal the Need to Keep Secrets
Meditation
Place your hand on the card. Gently close your eyes. Sense your body and concentrate on your breathing. Follow your breath inward. Hold for five seconds and relax. Breathe out and release all tension. Focus on the middle of your chest.
In front of you, a golden staircase descends into the earth. Walk down the ten healing steps to a magical, amethyst crystal cave. Each step reveals a hurt in your body caused by secrets you hold. Step into the amethyst cave and greet your shadow.
When you look around, you see the amethyst above and to your sides. In front of you, the floor extends into the shadowy depths of the cave. You feel an impulse to walk deeper into the cave. Seemingly out of nowhere, a hidden door flings open. You walk through the door into a room filled with golden searchlights, looking for secrets. Your soul wants to shine a healing light upon them. Take a breath and be still. Allow your soul to bring your secrets to light so that wisdom, understanding and self-awareness can blossom. Observe your secrets with mindfulness. In the golden light, there is no judgement, shame, guilt or doubt, and each enlightened secret holds understanding and healing.
There are some secrets that you are ready to release. Do that now. Recognize how much energy it takes to compartmentalize and store the secrets you are not ready to share or let fall away. See how the walls of this room, which seemed strong, have cracks forming. Your secrets will not stay here-and this is not where they belong. It is time to begin the process of coming to peace with them. Collect the secrets, scooping them up in your arms. It is time to hand them over.
A beautiful shimmering light being materializes in the room. This is your holder-of-secrets angel who carries a basket filled with healing golden light. You feel so loved as your eyes meet theirs. Place the secrets you are not ready to tell into the basket. Your angel will hold them without judgement. A sense of relief flows over you. When you are prepared to share them, your angel will hand them back to you. Your angel has a message for you: listen with an open heart. Stay here for as long as you like-at least thirty seconds.
You feel so light as you float back into the cave from the secret room. Walk to the golden staircase. As you ascend, aim to live in a way that means you don’t need to keep secrets. Thank your shadow for holding your secrets. At the top of the stairs, take two deep breaths and open your eyes to freedom.
Inspired Insights, Reflections and Actions
The bigger the secret, the bigger the burden and the harder it is on your body. Not all secrets are bad, but living with the secret can cause stress and make us feel inauthentic. See the connection between your body and your mind and acknowledge any hurt or heaviness the secret may be causing your physical self. Tell your secret to an animal or a tree to release some of its burden.
Journal Work
Write down or draw secrets that are ready to be released. The act of letting them flow form your mind onto paper will continue the healing process begun in your meditation. You can then decide what you will do with the information. If you are not ready to share, soak or carefully burn the paper until it disintegrates. Allow this process to settle for a few days, then do it again. I suggest you do this once a month. Sometimes it takes time for secrets to rise into your awareness. Go easy.
