In the 6^th century, Mary’s role became shrouded in “sexual sin” by Pope Gregory I, who started the belief that she was a fallen woman and shamed sex worker. There is no record of this in the scriptures, and in 1969 the church admitted that they were incorrect in these beliefs about Mary Magdalene. She was yet another misjudged divine feminine deity in the Bible, like Lilith, who was used to keep women subjugated with shame and fear.
