Mugwort

Mugwort has been revered since Anglo-Saxon times; marked as one of nine most sacred herbs, whose uses range in spirituality and medicinal purposes. This herb can grow under almost any condition, standing at up to 6 feet tall at full maturity. In many places in North America, it is seen as a fairly common weed, while highly regarded in other cultures.

When inhaled, ingested, or simply, placed under the pillow, Mugwort has a reputation for inducing vivid, visual psychic dreams, as well as, promoting lucid dreaming.

Used as a bitter tonic, Mugwort can be used as a digestive stimulant and nervine, meaning it can be used regularly to help stimulate the digestive system and help ease soreness and spastic nerve endings. It can assist as an antispasmodic, helping to ease chronic vomiting and symptoms of epilepsy.

When ingested, Mugwort helps to stimulate and regulate the menstrual cycles and ease into the cycle of menopause. It helps to stop excessive and/or inappropriate menstrual bleeding.

Mugwort can be used topically as a poultice for rashes, including those caused by exposure to poison oak.

High doses of Mugwort can cause damage to the liver, nausea, and convulsions and can cause contact dermatitis. It is part of a group of herbs called the Mugwort-Spice syndrome, which includes paprika, cumin, pepper, carrot, and a few other spices.

If you are allergic to Chamomile, you may also be allergic to Mugwort.
