The Witness
It is time to change direction and reestablish a more loving balance for your own good. You cannot hide from the past, but it can guide your future decisions.
Keywords: judgement, awareness, record-keeping
The eye of the inner witness comes forth once in a while to remind us to stop or change direction for our own good. This might be because, for example, we are becoming addicted or dependent on a substance, person or scenario that may be good in small doses but destructive when the balance is lost. The Witness represents the part of us that sits in judgement on ourselves. When we lose sight of the consequences of our actions, the Witness may give us a nudge that we can choose to listen to or ignore. But the Witness never forgets and keeps a record of all thoughts, deeds and actions made in this life as they will all have to be faced in the end.
Heart Practice: What are you hiding from yourself that you know to be potentially destructive? We all have self-sabotaging habits, an addiction or a trait such as procrastination. When you’ve identified what you need to release, consider what purpose it plays in your life and your reason for releasing it; this will make it easier to follow through with any action to change.
